The College of Education is accredited by the National Council of Accredited Teacher Education (NCATE). NCATE is one of the more rigorous accrediting agencies for professional schools and requires extensive internal review and preparation. The College has been accredited since 1961. The College's continuing accreditation demonstrates a commitment to education excellence. The College is also an original member of the Holmes Group, a consortium of research universities dedicated to improving teacher education and the profession of teaching.
